I’m 50 with combo skin and hormonal acne (especially on my chin and jaw) that has been a real struggle for the last few years. And despite being 50, my skin is still super super oily and just about anything new will will make me break out. My dermatologist started me on Adapalene gel about four months ago and it destroyed my face. I ended up with the worst acne breakout that I’ve ever had in my entire life. My face literally hurt. I didn’t even want to leave the house for almost a month. It was so painful and embarrassing. At first I was desperately trying anything that I could think of that might calm my face after stopping the Adapalene. Thankfully I had this balm hanging around as part of a trial pack of three that I had purchased several months earlier. The first day I used this Tea Tree balm was the first day in weeks that my face wasn’t screaming at me. I stopped using almost everything else on my face. This CleanIt Zero Tea Tree cleanser plus CeraVe Acne cleansing wash became my go-to double cleanse in the evening, and I used just this balm alone in the morning. I could see and feel the difference when I used this balm. My angry face hurt less and there was much less redness. There were other products that I used to help restore my skin barrier, but this balm was definitely a life-saver. Now that my face has calmed and my acne is under control, I have switched to the Mandarin C balm to help brighten my skin, but I will keep this Tea Tree balm handy forever. About a week ago I tried a new sunscreen that broke me out. I immediately switched to this Tea Tree balm until things were back to normal. This Tea Tree balm plus the Mandarin C balm are definitely my holy grail cleansing balms.
